Land Acknowledgement
Silvermere is a fictional city, so it names no specific Nation. A real community on Silver Lake would rest on, and acknowledge, the unceded traditional territory of the Indigenous Peoples of the region, whose connection to this valley reaches back since time immemorial. See Indigenous Resources for how this concept handles that responsibility.
This concept does not represent or speak for any real Nation. The structure of these acknowledgements mirrors real BC municipal practice; the specifics a real city would develop in relationship with the Nations whose land it occupies.
Website
This website was designed and built pro-bono by KootenayMade.ca, a Kootenay-based web design studio. Built with Next.js and Tailwind CSS. Hosted on Vercel.
Typography uses Playfair Display for display headlines, Inter for interface headings, and Source Sans 3 for body text, all served via Google Fonts under the SIL Open Font License.
The colour palette draws from the West Highlands landscape: deep lake blue from the still water of Silver Lake, valley green from the surrounding forests, birch and snow from the seasons.
Photography
Imagery on this concept is placeholder while the City of Silvermere's own photo library is generated. As real Silvermere photography or licensed third-party imagery is added, each image will be credited here with its source and license terms.
These photos serve as placeholder imagery while the City of Silvermere builds its own official photo library. If you are a local photographer interested in contributing imagery to the city website, please get in touch.
Government Acknowledgements
The City of Silvermere acknowledges the support of the Province of British Columbia. Some data and resources used on this site are provided through provincial government programs and partnerships.
