Council ratified Stage 2 watering restrictions, awarded the 2026 paving contract, and set the direction for the 2027 to 2031 Financial Plan.
Council met Tuesday, August 4 rather than Monday, August 3, because the first Monday of the month was BC Day. Water, roads, and the coming budget cycle took up most of the evening.
Water
Council ratified the Stage 2 watering restrictions declared by staff on August 4 under Bylaw 285 (Water Regulations & Rates). Stage 2 stays in effect until reservoir levels and the weather allow a return to Stage 1.
Roads
Council awarded the 2026 asphalt overlay contract to Silvercrest Paving Ltd. Work runs through September on sections of 6th Avenue, 22nd Street, and Cedar Flats Road, with traffic notices posted before each closure.
Budget
Council directed staff to open the resident priorities survey for the 2027 to 2031 Financial Plan and to report back with draft operating and capital requests in the fall.
