Artists, schools, and community groups can propose installations for the ninth Lakelight Festival from September 2 to October 2.
The City and the Lakelight Society open the Light Call for the 2027 festival on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Proposals close Friday, October 2.
What the Light Call is
The Light Call is the open invitation to propose an installation for the festival route: lanterns, light forms, projection work, or fire-and-ice pieces sited along the Silver Lake promenade, The Narrows, the Old Mill Footbridge, and downtown. Selected proposals are commissioned, and commission amounts are published with the call.
Who can propose
- Local and visiting artists, working in any light-based medium
- Schools and youth groups, often through the community lantern build
- Community groups, service clubs, and businesses with a crew willing to build
Festival dates
The 2027 edition runs November 27, 2026 to February 7, 2027, with the community lantern parade across the Old Mill Footbridge on Saturday, December 5, 2026. Commissioned works are announced in the fall, once the Society has curated the route.
Guidelines and forms
Full Light Call guidelines, technical requirements, and the proposal form are on the Lakelight pages at silvermere.example/community/lakelight.
