All open burning permits are suspended citywide until further notice. Fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels, and burn cages remain prohibited year-round.
With the local fire danger rating at High, the Silvermere Fire Department has suspended all open burning permits inside city limits. The prohibition holds until the rating drops and the department lifts it.
What is prohibited
- Yard waste and land clearing burns of any size, permitted or not
- Burn barrels and burn cages
- Fireworks and sky lanterns, which are prohibited in Silvermere year-round
- Any fire left unattended, at any time, for any reason
What is still allowed
Small recreational campfires in an approved fire pit are still permitted, attended at all times, with a shovel and a working water source within reach. The department can revoke that allowance on short notice if conditions worsen, and will post the change through Silvermere Alert.
Yard waste has somewhere else to go
Branches, clippings, and dry leaves go to the landfill yard waste area at no charge with proof of residency. Burning them is not an option this month.

The City offers free FireSmart home assessments May through September. A workshop runs Saturday, August 15 at the Fire Hall, and staff book assessments at the door.
