Stage 2 started August 4. Even-numbered addresses water on even days, odd on odd days, before 10 a.m. or after 7 p.m.
The City of Silvermere moved to Stage 2 watering restrictions on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Stage 2 remains in effect until the City announces a return to Stage 1.
The schedule
- Even-numbered addresses: water on even calendar days
- Odd-numbered addresses: water on odd calendar days
- Permitted hours: before 10:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m.
- Sprinkling is never permitted between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., except for timed underground systems
What Stage 2 adds
- No washing of driveways, sidewalks, or parking areas
- No filling or topping up of pools and ornamental ponds without a permit
- New lawns and landscaping need a Water Use Exemption Permit ($10) and are hand-watered only
- City parks, boulevards, and sports fields cut back to twice weekly
Why now
Silvermere draws its drinking water from Silver Lake, and demand in a hot, dry August runs at its highest point of the year, most of it going onto lawns. Stage 2 keeps the system ahead of that demand and holds reserve capacity for firefighting.
Enforcement
Restrictions are set under Bylaw 285 (Water Regulations & Rates) and enforced under Bylaw 215 (Municipal Ticketing). The fine for non-compliance is $50. Bylaw Services works on education first and writes tickets for repeat offences.
